Programs & Services
Argus is more than a place to live; it is a place that equips youth experiencing homelessness with the tools they need in order to thrive!
In addition to essential services, Argus offers a comprehensive life skill acquisition program which works to promote social and economic viability amid young people experiencing homelessness.
This program includes:
Productive Activity:
Linking youth to education and employment is key to their success. Youth work with staff to develop productive activity schedules which promote continued education and self-sufficiency
Goal Planning:
Planning for personal growth is essential. Each young person that resides at Argus has dedicated staff that work with them to develop weekly goals which contribute to their personal development.
Household, Time and Money Management Program:
For many youth, a return to home is not an option; as a result, Argus offers a variety of activities and information supporting independent living including but not limited to effective time management, budgeting, neighborhood relations and household administration.
Lifeskill Acquisition Groups/House Meeting:
These weekly groups contain information relevant to the experiences of our youth and provide practical application for effective problem solving and social development.
In addition, Argus offers strong advocacy, case management and referrals services. In conjunction with long-standing community partnerships, Argus, in partnership with Chaplin Family YMCA offers membership to youth accessing Argus, Langs Village Association offers a family physician to youth in need and Lutherwood Family Counselling Service offer on-site therapy.
"Argus has helped me in many different ways. I was given a bed to sleep in as well as the help I need to get a job and go to school. Argus also provided me with food, and arranged counselling and other services. I have benefited from the mental and physical support I have received and also from the many different programs that are offered to me and the other female youth. I would like to thank Argus from the bottom of my heart."-Ginny
